Starting 2017, Hub Innovazione Trentino has been hosting the UX Challenge, a Design Sprint hackathon for companies to innovate the User Experience of digital products and services by engaging with interaction design young talents, UX design professionals, and human-computer interaction researchers. In 4 editions we have supported 28 companies by involving 180+ young design talents, 20+ UX and HCI design experts, and about 200 users.
The 2021 edition of the UX Challenge has taken place in seven European Countries (Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany and Spain, plus Italy) and has been funded by the European Commission's Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), with the aim to measure the impacts of the UX Challenge in SMEs - Small and Medium Enterprises, by means of a Randomized Control Trial (RCT) study.
We recently completed the H2020 project 200SMEchallenge, which brought the UX Challenge to almost 200 SMEs across Europe, allowing us to collect strong and statistically accurate evidence supporting the case for the UX Challenge to act as an effective tool to enhance user-centered product innovation in SMEs.
We've put all that knowledge in a beautiful visual booklet that includes a full description of the UX Challenge format, plus many hints and tips for you to replicate it, or tune and adapt it to your own context.
